Our Race to Zero banquet is this coming Saturday night at 6:00 pm. The first goal of this event is pay off the remaining debt from the 2009 Education Building Renovation and Expansion. Approximately two-thirds of that debt has been paid, but now is the time for us to hit the homestretch and race to zero!
Practically, we would like to see a combination of pledges and one time gifts result in $100,000 a year in gifts over the next three years. We believe that will allow our church to be debt free by December 31, 2016.
But I have much higher hopes for this event.
It is my prayer that this help position us to serve the next generations. So much kingdom work and kingdom growth has happened through First Baptist Church of Eunice in the last 109 years…but we hunger for even greater work in the days ahead. I am convinced that the role of the church (including this church) will become more and more critical as our culture drifts away from Truth. This church needs to have it’s best days ahead of it.
It is my prayer that this event will more deeply connect the people of our church to the work of our church. As we have a great turn out for this event that more and more folks will see their relationship to the church as more than Sunday morning. That they will not see our church in terms of “them”, but in terms of “us”.
It is my prayer that this event will allow us to witness the movement of God. I do not us witness the best that we can do…I want us to witness the best of what God can do! I want our church stand in the middle of the Red Sea and see a miracle first hand!
Now a couple of reminders —
1. Dress casually, this is a “family gathering.”
2. Know that you will not be pressured to give at any point.
3. Don’t presume that God doesn’t intend for you be part of these commitments.
4. Commitment cards can be turned in at the banquet or any time before Sunday, March 30.
5. Don’t forget to thank the folks serving and the folks watching our kids Saturday night.
6. Pray for a God-sized response.
